How long do I have to wear earrings after the initial piercing?

Earrings should be worn 24/7 for one year after the initial piercing to prevent closure. The first pair should be worn for 6-8 weeks. After the first change of earrings, the ONLY recommended materials to be worn during the first year are :

-14k/18k/22k gold

-medical-grade titanium medical-grade plastic

-platinum.

*Helpful suggestions:

Dip the post of the earring into something lubricating such as aquafor or A&D. This allows the earring to slide into the newly pierced ear easily.

NO TIGHT EARRINGS: Do not push the backings on too tightly. Always allow for some space so that air flow can reach the new piercings. Backings pushed in too tightly often lead to embedded backings and/or infection.
